Chelsea Clinton Engaged to Marc Mezvinsky

Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, is engaged to her boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky, CBS News confirms.

Clinton and Mezvinsky announced the engagement to friends via e-mail on Friday, the Associated Press reports, and said they will possibly marry next summer. President Clinton's spokesman Matt McKenna confirmed the engagement to CBS News.

The 29-year-old former White House resident met Mezvinsky as a teenager in Washington, and they both attended Stanford University. Mezvinsky, the son of former Pennsylvania Rep. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Rep. Ed Mezvinsky, now works as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. Clinton is currently attending graduate school at Columbia University's School of Public Health.

Speculation swirled last summer that the couple would marry in August, but those rumors turned out to be false. Click here to view photos of Clinton and other high profile figures recently engaged or married.

Extrabux

More than 96 million people are expected to click, search and browse their way through online holiday shopping on Cyber Monday, according to a survey conducted for Shop.org. That is up from 85 million in 2008.

Have you ever shopped online through a "cash back" site? The main ones are ExtraBux, eBates, and Cashbaq.

The way it works is you register for free at one of these sites, then click through to the retailer of your choice. They track what you purchase and send you a check a few weeks later with a percentage of your purchase. The percentage back varies widely, from 1-50% back.

The cash back sites are gearing up for Black Friday with some pretty hot deals. Each site negotiates their own deal, so if you have a specific purchase in mind, compare the offers to get the biggest discount.

The best offers I saw were on Extrabux.com:

Get 30% off one item and 4% cash back at Ulta.com (a fabulous online beauty store) through Dec. 5.

Get 15% off all orders and 11% back at Shoes.com through Nov. 30.

Get $10 off orders of $80 or more plus free shipping and 12% cash back at FragranceNet.com through Dec. 15.

Get $15 off an order of $100 or more and 2% cash back at Cooking.com through Dec. 31.

Minarets in Switzerland

Swiss voters have been deciding in a referendum Sunday whether to accept a ban on the construction of minarets, which right-wing parties regard as symbols of militant Islam.

The move, led by the Swiss People's Party, which has campaigned in previous years against immigrants, has stirred fears of boycotts and violent reactions from Muslim countries.

Swiss voters approved a move to ban the construction of minarets in a Sunday vote on a right-wing initiative that labeled the mosque towers as symbols of militant Islam, projections by a widely respected polling institute showed.

The projections based on partial returns say Swiss swung from only 37 percent supporting the proposal a week ago to 59 percent in the actual voting.

This is one of those profoundly illiberal bans that doesn’t do anyone any good. Let’s say you wanted to tackle extremism amongst Muslims, or improve the lot of Muslim women. How would banning minarets help? What effect can this have apart from to make Muslims feel under attack and give them more incentive to withdraw into their own world? More minarets won’t lead to more extremism, but this referendum will.

Tiger Woods Car Accident Today

The web is buzzing tonight that the car accident today that landed PGA star Tiger Woods in the hospital was actually a domestic abuse issue…not a random car accident.

It was earlier reported that Woods, 33, was in serious condition after his Cadillac SUV crashed into a tree and fire hydrant. Then, his condition was modified and police said that that the golf pro was released from a hospital near his Windermere, Florida home after being treated for facial lacerations.

Gossip site TMZ is now reporting that Woods’ injuries were actually caused by his wife, model Elin Nordegren. Nordegren was apparently upset about rumors of an affair between Woods and socialite Rachel Uchitel. TMZ cites sources that say after an argument during which Nordegren scratched up his face, Woods tried to flee in his car and his wife chased after him with a golf club.

Black Friday Internet Sales

As the thanksgiving turkey begins to chill in the refrigerator and the family dozes off from tryptophan induced comas the next thought on the minds of many is the day of shopping ahead Black Friday.

But if lining at the store isn’t your cup of tea, maybe you will consider shopping online. It saves time, money waiting times and the madness of in-store activity.

The best deals & sales from stores like Walmart, Best Buy, Target on electronics, computers, televisions, furniture, video games, clothes, jewelry and more can be found on coupon sites across the internet.

Whether you are looking for yourself or are looking for a cheap Christmas gift, Black Friday is quite possibly the best time to get your shopping done. Companies across the nation will open early (some not closing tonight at all) in order to prepare for the "sales frenzy" that is Black Friday.

Butterball Turkey Cooking Times

How long do you cook a turkey by pound? Turkey cooking times are among the top Butterball Turkey Hotline Questions.

The biggest problem with a turkey (that’s not frozen) is knowing how long to cook, and how not to overcook.

Your turkey should give you a list of cooking times; how long you cook it is based on how big the turkey is. Additionally, it matters whether or not your turkey is stuffed. For instance, here's what Butterball tells us:

Net Weight (in pounds and in hours)

* 10 to 18 lbs.: 3 to 3-1/2 hours, unstuffed; 3-3/4 to 4-1/2 hours, stuffed
* 18 to 22 lbs.: 3-1/2 to 4 4-1/2 hours, unstuffed; to 4-1/2 to 5 hours, stuffed
* 22 to 24 lbs.: 4 to 4-1/2 hours, unstuffed; 5 to 5-1/2 hours, stuffed
* 24 to 30 lbs.: 4-1/2 to 5 hours, unstuffed; 5-1/2 to 6-1/4 hours, stuffed

You should be checking for doneness about 1/2 an hour before your turkey is supposed to be done. But how do you know if it's really done? It's actually quite simple. All you need to do is put a meat thermometer in your turkey before you put it in the oven! If the turkey is stuffed, place the thermometer tip inside the stuffed cavity. If it's not stuffed, put the tip of the meat thermometer in the thigh muscle just above and beyond the lower part of the thigh bone pointing toward the body. Don't let it actually hit the bone.

Your turkey will be done when your meat thermometer reads:

* 180 to 185 degrees F deep in the thigh; also, juices should be clear, not pink when thigh muscle is pierced deeply.
* 170 to 175 degrees F in the thickest part of the breast, just above the rib bones.
* 160 to 165 degrees F in the center of the stuffing, if turkey is stuffed.

As long as your thermometer reads these temperatures, your turkey is done. Don't keep cooking it! You should now have the perfectly-cooked turkey and will keep all your guests happy!

Dancing With The Stars wrapped up Season 9 of the show with a jam-packed two-hour finale Tuesday night.

Among the highlights: Tons of recaps; a dance-off between NFL stars Michael Irvin and Jerry Rice (they both won mini disco ball rings); the return of Tom DeLay and the rest of the star competitors; Jerry Springer, Cloris Leachman and Steve Wozniak attempting to dance yet again; Donny Osmond singing Puppy Love, and the crowning of a winner.

The trophy now belongs to ...

Donny ran to the crowd, grabbed his wife and carried her onto the floor. "Yeah!" he said, finally holding the mirror ball trophy high above his head.

Mya came in second. She said, "I'm so happy to have made it to the finals. ... We had the time of our lives!"

In third place: Kelly Osbourne. "It's been the most beautiful amazing experience. ... Thank you, America. ... It's because of you that I've grown so much."

Sacramone added she has been living at home, looking for an apartment and getting ready to transfer to a different university between trips to Cleveland.

JLo falls at AMAs

Jennifer Lopez debuted her new song "Louboutins" in a performance at the tonight's American Music Awards. "Louboutins" is the first single of her new album Love? which is set to release next year.

The performance was powerful and displayed Jennifer Lopez in her element of song and dance, but regardless of how the performance went, it will be remembered for one thing: the fall.

After climbing a stair of dancers and jumping off, JLo landed on her butt instead of her feet, but she made a quick recovery.

Cyber Monday

With Christmas approaching, online retailers are readying for what has become known as "Cyber Monday", the busiest internet shopping day of the year that commonly falls on the first Monday of December.

On Cyber Monday last year, 8 December, Amazon claims that 1.4m items were ordered from its UK site, over 16-items per second and the most it has ever received in a single 24-hour period.

Adam Lambert AMA Performance

The '09 American Music Awards featured performances from blockbuster stars like Whitney Houston, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, Green Day, Eminem and Rihanna, but newcomer Adam Lambert was selected to close out the show, and his performance was advertised as "eye-popping" and something you’d be talking about tomorrow.

With an army of dancers clad in gear that looked like it was inspired by the Haus of Gaga, Lambert strutted across the Nokia Theatre stage, dragging some of his dancers outfitted in S&M gear by harnesses and stopping to caress the legs of others — both men and women. As his band turned out the techno-crunch of his debut single from For Your Entertainment, Lambert bounced around the stage in black leather, hitting his signature high notes.

Pie for Life

Forget the pie-of-the-month clubs. That's amateur hour. It's only twelve pies! Where's the commitment? Twelve months pass, and you're done. If you're a serious lover of pie, there's only once choice: pie for life. No joke: Royers Cafe in Round Top, Texas will send you a pie, every month, for the rest of your life.

Although the website says the pie-for-life plan costs $10,000, that's based on the assumption that you're between 40 and 50 years old. We contacted Royers Cafe and found out the real deal: the price varies by age, so the younger you are, the more you'll have to pay (see the chart below). You also pay extra to have it shipped outside of Texas via UPS.

For example, a 30-year old in Texas would pay $23,498 and would be set, pie-wise, until they die. It's non-transferable, making it something of a pie-insurance policy. Live forever, and you beat the system: discount pies. Die tomorrow, however, and Royers makes out like bandits.

Ultimate Fighting Championship - UFC 106 Results

In a rematch of their memorable 2006 fight in Anaheim, former UFC light-heavyweight champions Tito Ortiz of Huntington Beach and Forrest Griffin of Las Vegas renewed acquaintances in Ortiz's UFC comeback fight following a contract split last year.

Griffin dominated the third and final round, blitzing Ortiz with hard rights to the face and combinations that included hard shots to the body and tough kicks to the left leg. Ortiz was cut under the left eye in the round and sustained some good combinations.

The judges saw it like this: split-decision win for Griffin.

Ortiz, as usual, had a memorable ring entrance with Eminem blaring at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, waving the American flag.

Cyrus, 16, was not on board, PEOPLE has confirmed, and, according to her Web site, she is scheduled to perform Sunday in Greensboro, N.C.

"It was one of our tour buses, but not Miley's,” her manager told TMZ. "It was one of our buses that transported our lighting crew."

New Moon Reviews

'New Moon' reviews - what are the critics saying? -- Now that the hype machine is winding down for publicity for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the focus shifts away from the actors a bit and on to the ever-important audience--both fans and readers of the book by Stephenie Meyer from which the movie was adapted and professional movie critics who will judge this movie with an eye toward where it fits with the hundreds of other movies they have watched this year. So, how is New Moon, starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, doing with the the professional movie critics so far?

Well, so far, not so hot. At RottenTomatoes.com, a review collector, the overall score so far is a disappointing 29% out of 100 with 115 reviews counted. The movie fares a bit better among Top Critics at 37%.

Tila Tequila UStream Video

Tila Tequila UStream Video.
Was Tila on tequila? Or just in need of serious help?
According to TMZ.com, the petite model stripped naked, danced around in the nude and rambled on about a variety of subjects. Among those topics was Merriman, who she claims choked, shoved and humiliated her for her bisexuality during a heated argument in September.

At one point in the Webcast that reportedly lasted several hours, Tequila said that "People call me an attention whore ... or whatever ... but excuse me, I'm a grown a-- woman and I'm confident in myself ... I think a woman's body is a beautiful thing ... that's why I'm a lesbian ... I was born naked ... anybody who is against that is gay and in denial."

Black Friday Sales 2009

As already antipicated in an earlier blog entry we are seeing the search term Black Friday Sales 2009 again and again as number 1.

Still 8 days to go till the 2009 black friday.

Brian Brohm

Brian Brohm (born September 23, 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American football quarterback who is currently with the Buffalo Bills. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

According to the Journal-Sentinel in Milwaukee, the Packers attempted to retain Brohm (he was a second round pick two years ago) to the practice squad, but obviously the former Louisville quarterback preferred the notion of actually having a shot at playing with Buffalo when presented with equal contracts.

The crazy thing is, he's got a pretty good shot -- Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick are obviously not preferred choices when it comes to quarterback, and even though Brohm never got any traction with the Packers, he's still a high upside player; it's not like he had any where he could really go in Green Bay in terms of jumping Aaron Rodgers.

In Buffalo, however, he presents at least some possibility of a chance to earn full-time jobs for both he and interim head coach Perry Fewell.

Scott Hamilton

Scott Scovell Hamilton (born August 28, 1958) is an American figure skater and Olympic gold medalist. He won four consecutive U.S. championships (1981-1984), four consecutive World Championships (1981-1984) and the 1984 Olympics.

Scott Hamilton will skate on TV for the first time since battling a brain tumor, joining fellow Olympian and cancer survivor Dorothy Hamill for a Thanksgiving Day special intended to inspire viewers to triumph over illness.

Carmen Electra Leaked Video

Carmen Electra Leaked Video is one of the hottest topics this morning according to Google Trends.

A Carmen Electra sex tape has reportedly been leaked to the internet, but is it actually a Carmen Electra sex tape? Or something else entirely? The story has started to create a lot of buzz around the internet, as the Carmen Electra Leaked Video Being Called "Sex Tape"
Herald Sun was reporting that a "Carmen Electra lesbian sex tape" was leaked to the internet.

The problem though, is that it isn't exactly what they are claiming it to be, and the tape isn't close to anything that the press has seen recently from the likes of Carrie Prejean, Paris Hilton, or Kim Kardashian. In fact, compared to other things that Carmen Electra has done in her career, this new tape could be considered quite tame.

Nephelococcygia

For those types out there who got excited the first time they heard stamp collecting had a name ("philately"), you'll be delighted to know that nephelococcygia is the technical term for cloud gazing.

The word nephelococcygia originates from Aristophanes' play The Birds. It is the Greek for "Cloud Cuckoo Land," the utopian city in the clouds that the main character persuades all the birds in the world to build.

Maersk Alabama

"Maersk Alabama" is the current top search based on just recent news that stated that Maersk Alabama, the American-flagged ship captured briefly by pirates in April, came under fire again early Tuesday morning off Somalia's coast, but evaded the attackers.

Somali pirates seized the Maersk Alabama in April. The crew managed to retake control of the ship, but in a dramatic turn of events, the pirates took the ship's captain, Richard Phillips, hostage. He was held at gunpoint aboard the Alabama's lifeboat for five days before he was rescued by U.S. Naval forces, who killed three of his captors, and arrested the fourth.

Pink Slips For Congress

Another funny search term appeared this morning at the number one spot on Google trends.

Voters in Washington are tired of being disappointed regarding their health care and other legislative efforts and have sent out 5 million "pink slips" to the members of Congress.

"These pink slips are a call for fiscally responsible and constitutionally responsible Americans," said Rep. Steve King of Iowa.

The pink slips are a symbol of job dismissal. With Rep. Trent Franks, R-Arizona, saying members need to vote the will of the people or be fired in the next election.

Brady Quinn Cheap Shot

Walmart Black Friday 2009 Ads

After "Lorenzo von Matterhorn" has stayed #1 search persistently for a few hours today it was now replaced by "walmart black friday 2009 ads".

Considering that the Black Friday 2009 is not the upcoming friday but friday next week, this is quite impressive. I guess we will be seeing that term at the #1 spot quite a few times in the following days.

Lorenzo Von Matterhorn

After the airing of "The Playbook" which is the eighth episode of the fifth season of the CBS situation comedy How I Met Your Mother "Lorenzo Von Matterhorn" (one of Barney's playbook aliases) became the most common Google search for the day of November 16, 2009

Von Matterhorn made an appearance this evening, setting off an explosion of web interest – most of it propelled by the discovery of a Wikipedia page that had been created for the character. The page is a lot fun, mostly talking about Matterhorn's afflictions – he suffers from phallumegaly, or bigness of penis disorder – and various hobbies. Problem is, Wikipedia – as we all know – is a bastion of fact, and so this little bit of How I Met Your Mother fun had to go.

Meteor Shower November 2009

Twilf

As the AT&T website went online again, its searches vanished quickly. Instead the term "Twilf" went volcanic, as this was one of the terms used by Al Gore's Current TV to describe former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

The Urban Dictionary clears up the meaning of TWILF to reassure us it isn't a complimentary statement about Sarah Palin. Hmm...is she one who farts in the bathtub and bites the bubbles...somehow I think it's one of the other definitions...

Att net homepage

Currently the website of the 2nd largest wireless operator by subscribers in the US behind Verizon, AT&T is offline, boosting the search querys "att net" and "att net homepage" as the number 1 top searches on Google at the moment.

Susan Boyle Makeover

This morning's most popular search on Google has been "Susan Boyle Makeover".

The Britain's Got Talent runner-up explained that she was unhappy about being branded the "Hairy Angel" in the press.

Susan Boyle has revealed that she decided to have a makeover after seeing herself on television.

"I was fed up with being called that," she told the Daily Mail. "I didn't know what I looked like on television until I saw myself on Britain's Got Talent. I saw this wee wifey with the mad hairdo and the bushy eyebrows and said, 'Hmm, not really telegenic'.

"So I decided to spruce myself up a bit. When I look in the mirror now, I see this sophisticated lady. I'm still a bit like that wee wifey inside, but more refined in some ways. Would you want to look like the Hairy Angel? I don't think so."

Peanut Butter Smack... How do you like me now biznitch?

Today's funny top phrase on Google trends is "Peanut Butter Smack... How do you like me now biznitch?" based on a stand-up comedy show by Dane Cook who is an American stand-up comedian and film actor.

In one of his latest shows he describes how he found a porn movie on Youporn with this title.
It is regular sex for 14 minutes and 41 seconds, finding ending in a guy dipping his hand in a jar of peanut butter… and smacking his partner, then yelling "How you like me now, biznitch?"

Many then were disappointed though when they tried to find that video on Youporn because Dane Cook made it all up. There is no such film on Youporn.

Carrie Prejean Sextape Stream

Wow, the water on the moon didn't last long as the Google top search for today.
It was dethroned by the term "Carrie Prejean Sextape Stream" after rumours said, that there is a sex tape starring former Miss California USA 2009, and Miss USA 2009 first runner-up Carrie Prejean.

CNN subsequently reported that Prejean' settlement with Miss California USA officials was driven by the discovery of a sex tape featuring Prejean. Prejean appeared alone in the tape, which was described as "too racy" for posting on a celebrity gossip site. Prejean claimed that the video was created, when she was 17, for her then boyfriend.

Water on the Moon

Today's hottest search is "water on the moon" based on yesterday's news that reported NASA said Friday it had discovered water on the moon, opening "a new chapter" that could allow for the development of a lunar space station.

The discovery was announced by project scientist Anthony Colaprete at a midday news conference.

"We found water. And we didn't find just a little bit. We found a significant amount," Anthony Colaprete, lead scientist for the mission, told reporters as he held up a white water bucket for emphasis.

He said the 25 gallons of water the lunar crash kicked up was only what scientists could see from the plumes of the impact.

Tony Alamo

Currently the highest ranked search term on Google Trends is "Tony Alamo" which is probably because the 75 year old preacher and singer has been sentenced to 175 years in jail for child sex convictions today.

The preacher has been in jail before. Alamo was convicted of federal tax evasion in 1994. He completed a prison sentence and was released on December 8, 1998.

On September 20, 2008, federal and state investigative agents raided the Arkansas headquarters of the ministry as part of a child pornography investigation.
This investigation involved allegations of physical and sexual abuse and allegations of polygamy and underage marriage. Alamo denied the child abuse allegations.

On September 25, 2008, Alamo was arrested by Arizona police and FBI agents in Flagstaff, Arizona, on a federal warrant out of Texarkana, Arkansas, federal court on charges that he transported minors (as early as 1994) over state lines for sexual activity in violation of the Mann Act. On October 17, 2008, he pleaded not guilty, and his case was set for trial.

On October 22, 2008, Alamo's former followers testified in court during a preliminary hearing that Alamo had practiced polygamy and had taken a nine-year-old girl as a wife.

On December 2, 2008, a judge in Arkansas unsealed a federal indictment that included eight new charges against Alamo. The eight new counts were similar and involved four new alleged victims. His trial began on July 13, 2009, and on July 24, 2009, Alamo was found guilty on all ten federal counts.

On July 28, 2009, shortly after his conviction, Tony Alamo again made headlines by calling himself "just another one of the prophets that went to jail for the Gospel."

This one qualifies as one of the funniest top ranked Google trends ever.

Why Won't My Parakeet Eat My Diarrhea?

On November 11, 2009 (Veteran’s Day), the phrase "Why won’t my parakeet eat my diarrhea" topped Google Hot Trends. It peaked around 10:43AM EST when its hotness went "volcanic". Immediately, numerous websites (such as this) began chattering about it and therefore even increased the trend.

All signs point to the Failblog, which posted it as a "Google Suggest" fail and subsequently sent the crazy phrase viral.
